Health Hackathon on Risk Communication

Sierra Leone Health Hackathon On Risk Communication is a 4-day hackathon event that is designed to bring together tech developers, risk communication and disease control professionals’ to find solutions to challenges in the risk communication sector that will enhance efforts in responding to health emergencies and epidemics. These actors will be joined together at the Sensi Tech Hub with the mandate of working together to identify and rapidly develop new approaches to solving the problems of delays, missed opportunities and even tragedy that can come from poor communication of health information during health emergencies and epidemics. For instance, the teams may create new web- and mobile-based tools designed to address a specific need. Or they might find new ways to harness communication channels to ensure the effective spread of important and accurate health information.
The event will be organized by Sensi Tech Innovation Hub in partnership with the MOHS on behalf of GFA Consulting Group and GIZ as part of the German Cooperation financed project: Regional Program supporting Pandemic Prevention in the ECOWAS Region (RPPP).
The hackathon event will start on Monday, 28th May 2018 and will end on Thursday, 31st May 2018 at Sensi Tech Innovation Hub 67 Sir Samuel Lewis Road Aberdeen, Freetown.
There will be 3 prizes available for the top 3 teams and the top team will also be put into an aftercare mentoring program with support from Sensi, GIZ, GFA and expert mentors from the field of risk communication and health to help develop the winning prototype:
The awards will be in tablets, smart phones and IT training courses worth value of: 1st prize: $1500 2nd prize: $1000 3rd prize: $ 750.
