Overwatch 2 Season 14 is just a couple of weeks away now, but Blizzard is so eager for you to meet new hero Hazard, it’s letting you play as the spiky Scot ahead of time. While the Overwatch Classic throwback mode remains high on players’ priority lists right now before it disappears, this weekend may require you to take a break from it and give Hazard a spin instead.
From Apex Legends’ gravity-defying scientist, Horizon, to one of Call of Duty’s most loved characters, Captain John ‘Soap’ MacTavish, there have been a fair few Scottish icons across some of the best FPS games. Revealed earlier this week, Overwatch 2’s Hazard is looking to join that list. Bringing a spike-filled kit (and a sensational six pack) into the fight, this new tank hero already looked like a very interesting addition to the roster.
Coinciding with the grand finals of this year’s Overwatch Champions Series, Blizzard has now unveiled a gameplay trailer and Hazard’s full kit. Described as a “mobile, dive brawl tank,” Hazard comes equipped with some piercing weaponry and some utility that’s bound to piss enemy players off. These include his Jagged Wall, which spawns a spiky wall into the battlefield to not only block off sight lines or narrow routes, but to also damage and knock back players – don’t stand too close to the edge of the map when fighting a Hazard player, otherwise you might get booped.
Spike Guard, meanwhile, lets Hazard put up a shield that reduces incoming damage, while also firing homing spikes at nearby enemies and regenerating ammo for his Bonespur weapon.
His ultimate, Downpour, sees a storm of spikes rain down from above, and any enemies caught by a spike will be immobilized, making them easy pickings.
If that’s a kit that you’re desperate to use, there’s good news – you don’t have to wait until Season 14 kicks off to try it.
You can use new Overwatch 2 hero Hazard right now for a limited time until Monday, November 25. That gives you the whole weekend to master your skills ahead of Season 14, which launches on Tuesday, December 10.
