The Miss Universe Organization has disowned any affiliation with the Miss Universe Coin project, which was announced during the Philippine Blockchain Week (PBW) event held earlier this month. PBW has stated that they are in communication with all parties concerned and will provide an update in due course.
During the PBW event, Donald Lim, the founder of the organization overseeing PBW, announced the launch of the Miss Universe Coin. However, weeks after the announcement, Miss Universe’s official organization has denied any involvement with the coin project, labeling it a fraud.
On September 22, the official Miss Universe Facebook page released a statement declaring that neither the Miss Universe Organization nor JKN Global Group, the company behind the pageant, have any association with the coin project revealed at PBW. The organization plans to pursue legal action regarding this infringement.
The statement on Facebook clarified that there is no Miss Universe cryptocurrency or blockchain offering, and emphasized that such products do not play a role in the voting or selection process for Miss Universe or the Miss Universe Philippines pageants.
A representative from the Miss Universe Organization described the Miss Universe Coin as a fraudulent scheme. They suspect that the project may be promoted at upcoming blockchain conferences in Dubai and Singapore and warned against its coverage.
PBW stated on X (formerly Twitter) that they are actively communicating with all involved parties and intend to provide an update soon. However, Cointelegraph’s attempts to reach out to PBW for more information were unsuccessful at the time of writing.
