Barcelona Set to Host Europe’s Largest Blockchain Event
Barcelona is set to become the hub of the European blockchain community as it prepares to host the largest blockchain event in Europe, the European Blockchain Convention 9 (EBC9). Taking place from October 24th to 26th, the event is expected to attract around 5,000 delegates, making it the largest gathering of its kind for the second half of 2023.
EBC9 will bring together founders, CEOs, and industry experts from various sectors to discuss the latest trends and developments in the blockchain industry. The conference will feature a diverse lineup of speakers, including top executives from Nansen, Fidelity, Fabric Ventures, and Animoca Brands. Traditional companies such as Banco Santander and Volkswagen will also have representatives sharing their insights.
The convention will take place at the Fira Barcelona, the largest convention center in Spain, providing ample space for exhibits, engaging experiences, and a greater variety of content. This expansion is a result of the overwhelmingly positive feedback received from previous editions, prompting organizers to seek a larger venue.
Victoria Gago, co-founder of the European Blockchain Convention, stated, “Building on that momentum, we are moving EBC9 to Fira Barcelona… As the largest convention center in Spain, it offers ample space for exhibitors, a greater variety of content, and more engaging experiences.” This move reflects the growing interest and engagement in blockchain technology within the European market.
Daniel Salmeron, fellow co-founder of the convention, highlighted the participation of traditional banks and financial institutions, stating, “The participation of so many traditional banks and financial institutions demonstrates their commitment and optimism about the future of crypto and digital assets.”
The agenda of the European Blockchain Convention will cover a wide range of topics such as regulatory challenges, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), privacy, the institutionalization of crypto, decentralized finance (DeFi), sustainability, tokenization, and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). The conference will feature panel discussions, workshops, AMA sessions, and networking lounges, providing attendees with ample opportunities to share knowledge and build connections.
In addition to the main program, several side events will take place during EBC9, including an investor meetup, an art gallery, and the second edition of the EBC Start-up Awards. One notable event is the Hackathon, which will bring together more than 200 hackers, 30 mentors, and 20 teams for a 48-hour competition.
The European Blockchain Convention 9 promises to be a landmark event in the blockchain industry, gathering key players, experts, and enthusiasts to explore the latest developments and potential opportunities in this rapidly evolving field. With Barcelona as the backdrop and the anticipation of the El Clásico football match between Barcelona and Real Madrid coinciding with the conference, the city is buzzing with excitement as it prepares to host this prestigious event.
