Something I didn’t expect to see this Black Friday was two new Super Mario games at such a low price at Argos in the UK.
Both Super Mario Party Jamboree and Mario & Luigi: Brothership are available for under £45 thanks to a “special offer” from the retailer. While the online store doesn’t specify the original asking price for either game, we do know that other listings show up to £50.
I also know that the digital versions that can be bought on the Nintendo Eshop will cost you at least an extra £10 respectively, so these physical editions are worth it.
Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch: now £40.99 at Argos
Mario & Luigi: Brothership – Nintendo Switch: now £39.99 at Argos
Let’s go back to hardware now, and the Nintendo Switch Lite (Yellow) at Amazon. This deal gets you a $30, which is pretty good. This console is a great affordable alternative compared to the Nintendo Switch launch version or the more expensive Nintendo Switch OLED.
Will it go lower when Black Friday officially arrives? It’s possible, but we doubt it’ll drop by much, given that the best price we’ve ever seen for it was $159.
Nintendo Switch Lite – Yellow: was $199.99 now $169 at Amazon
Another Nintendo Switch game that you’ve probably heard about is Animal Crossing: New Horizon, which took over the gaming space when it launched back in 2020.
If you’ve got any kids and are looking for a fun, time-sinking game for them to get lost in, New Horizons is one of the best Switch games available, with plenty to do. This offer at Amazon will save you eight bucks, thanks to the 13% discount. It’s not so much, admittedly, but it all helps right?
Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch: was $59.99 now $51.95 at Amazon
Hey there! Welcome back to our weekend coverage for Black Friday’s Nintendo Switch deals. I’m TechRadar Gaming’s news writer, Demi, and after plenty of scouting, I’ve been able to find you some of the best offers ahead of the holiday season.
First up is by far one of the best Nintendo Switch games you can play right now, and perhaps one of the best games of the current generation. That’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which I can’t recommend enough. This just received a price cut at Amazon, saving you more than $10 thanks to the retailer’s 14% discount.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch: was $69.99 now $59.95 at Amazon
Those on particularly tight budgets shouldn’t miss this great little deal on Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope at Amazon in the US. The game is currently coming in at under $15, with free delivery for Amazon Prime Members. It’s not the lowest-ever price, but it’s remarkably close and honestly incredibly cheap for any big Nintendo Switch release like this.
If you’re not familiar with the series, Mario + Rabbids is a tactical take on the Mario universe. Teamed up with Ubisoft’s Rabbids, Mario and the gang embark on an intergalactic quest to defeat a mysterious evil threatening the kingdom.
Unlike most Super Mario games, this is a turn-based strategy title with an emphasis on finding cover and thinking strategically to take down your foes. It’s a lot of fun and a very approachable introduction to the genre.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope: was $19.93 now $14.97 at Amazon
If you’re shopping from the UK, it’s time to get yourself a Peely pad. The Fortnite Peely edition of the PowerA Nintendo Switch Wireless Controller is 25% off at Argos – making it a great choice for fans of the battle royale game. A code for a bonus in-game item, the Prickly Axe, is even included in the box which is sure to be a delight for dedicated players.
This mellow yellow controller boasts a cute design inspired by everyone’s favorite sentient banana. This price is also matching Amazon’s lowest-ever, so you’re getting a great deal.
In terms of overall features, this is a rechargeable wireless controller with a 30 hour battery life. It also has two remappable buttons, which you can program to swap between your favorite weapons.
PowerA Nintendo Switch Wireless Controller – Fortnite Peely: was £44.99 now £33.75 at Argos
Here’s one of those code in box releases that I was just talking about. Just Dance 2025 is currently discounted over at Amazon in the UK and it’s a solid pick if you’re looking for a great party game to enjoy over the holidays. This year’s song roster includes songs by artists included Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, and Green Day.
Just Dance is perfect on the Nintendo Switch, as it utilizes the Joy-Con controllers for scoring. You can also connect your phone to use as a controller, which is a decent compromise if you want to play with a few friends.
This entry also just released last month, so is the most up to date and recent version of the game.
Just Dance 2025: was £42.99 now £38.99 at Amazon
Are wondering whether you should buy physical Nintendo Switch game cartridges or digital codes?
My personal take is that physical cartridges are almost always the better option. They often contain some or all of the game data, which reduces the need to spend time downloading files before you can play. It’s also possible to lend your game cartridges to friends or even sell them at a second hand store down the line, which can be a great way to claw back the pennies after you’ve hit the credits. There’s also something quite nice about a physical item, especially if you intend to give a game as a gift. Unwrapping a digital code just doesn’t feel quite the same.
Of course, there are some reasons to consider digital codes. Sometimes games can be sold as a ‘code in box’ – which is what it exactly sounds like: a digital code inside a game box. These are often significantly cheaper than normal physical editions, so can be worth considering as a budget pick. Some games are also only sold in this format, so it might be your only option depending on what you play.
If you simply prefer digital downloads, maybe because you don’t want to have to worry about losing cartridges, then of course there’s nothing wrong with buying standard digital codes either. Digital codes also boast the distinct advantage that they can be delivered instantly by retailers like Amazon, which might seem appealing if there’s a title that you just desperately want right now.
Digital codes are also the more environmentally friendly option, removing the need for plastic packaging that could end up in landfill. Just bear in mind that this isn’t really true for code in box releases.
I’ve got another game deal for you, but this time it’s available in the UK.
Right now you can pick up Lego Horizon Adventures at a reduced price over at Amazon. With a £4.18 saving, it’s not the cheapest game around but, considering that it released literally today I think this is a great little bargain to consider.
As its name would suggest, Lego Horizon Adventures is a Lego spin on the PlayStation franchise, giving you a new way to explore the Horizon universe in adorable bricky form. It’s a great couch co-op game and offers a ton of customization options for those who want to get truly invested.
Lego Horizon Adventures: was £59.99 now £55.81 at Amazon
Want to build up your Nintendo Switch game library for less? Right now you can pick up Sonic X Shadow Generations at an Amazon Lowest-ever price in the US. It’s not a huge discount by any means, but a great deal nevertheless given that the game only released towards the end of last month.
A remake of Sonic Generations supplemented by an all-new campaign mode, this is a game with a ton of content to explore. Our reviewer, Rhys Wood (no relation), was impressed with its excellent level design, not to mention the fantastic soundtrack. It’s one of the best Sonic games yet, a real treat for Nintendo Switch owners, and also a decent pick if you’re after a game to gift that appeals to all ages.
I’ve got my eye on a few other great game deals at the moment too, so stay tuned for more.
Sonic X Shadow Generations: was $49.99 now $42.90 at Amazon
Welcome to another day of deals! While I definitely think that bundles are the way to go if you’re after the very best value, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some great offers on the consoles themselves.
Over at Argos you can secure the Nintendo Switch OLED for £19 off, a pretty impressive saving given that the console really doesn’t receive substantial price cuts that often.
If you’re wondering what the big differences between the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch OLED are, then here’s a quick explainer. The Nintendo Switch OLED is an upgraded model of the console, with a larger more vibrant screen. It also features an improved kickstand, much better speakers, and an increased 64GB of internal storage. It’s without a doubt the version to choose if you’re a more experienced gamer with the budget.
Nintendo Switch OLED: was £299 now £279.99 at Argos
Wondering why you can trust my expertise over Black Friday?
As Hardware Writer at TechRadar, it’s my job to keep a close eye on the prices of many of the latest gaming products, including the Nintendo Switch family of consoles plus its games and accessories. I have covered multiple sales events and have heaps of experience from both my time at TechRadar and at gaming magazines.
Anyone who has followed my work will know that I regularly take the time to seek out the very best savings, a practise that started all the way back in the “Dash’s Dazzling Deals” column in PLAY Magazine where I spotlighted killer gaming discounts for those on a tight budget.
It’s not just me though, as I am also joined by our wider team of gaming experts who all bring years of experience to the table. Together, we have spent countless testing a wide range of products so know which ones are definitely worth your while. If it’s high-quality and on sale, you can bet that it will be spotlighted here.
If you’re looking for a top Nintendo Switch controller deal in the run-up to Black Friday then I’ve got you covered there too.
The fantastic 8BitDo Ultimate is currently available at a discounted price, which represents some excellent value for money for one of our favorite Switch controllers. It’s got exquisite Hall effect thumbsticks, great build quality, and an included charging dock.
8BitDo Ultimate: was $69.99 now $53.99 at Amazon
Now back to the UK, where this £10 discount on the Mario Red Edition of the Nintendo Switch OLED is well worth a look. You can currently pick it up for just £299 at Currys, with free next day delivery included.
This version of the console comes in a bright red colorway inspired by everyone’s favorite plumber and is a great pick if you’re a Super Mario fan. There are even a few cute easter eggs hidden on its design, though I won’t spoil any of them.
Just bear in mind that, unlike some of the other Black Friday offers, no game or Nintendo Switch Online Membership is included here – so you’ll need to pick up your own. Luckily, I’m expecting of good game discounts to come.
Nintendo Switch OLED Mario Red Edition: was £309 now £299 at Currys
Here’s a great US deal to kick off today’s savings. Right now you can pick up a heavily discounted Nintendo Switch Carrying Case over at Best Buy. It’s $14 off and currently listed as on clearance, so I don’t expect this offer to be around forever.
Best of all, the carrying case, which is compatible with Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch OLED systems, comes bundled with two screen protectors (one for each model).
For just over $10 that’s pretty incredible value and gives you everything that you need to keep your console safe and secure when you’re on the go. If you’re planning to pick up a new Nintendo Switch console over Black Friday (or already own one) snap up this deal before it’s gone.
Nintendo Switch Carrying Case & Screen Protector Splatoon 3 Edition: was $24.99 now $10.99 at Best Buy
Another great deal for those in the UK, as the Nintendo Switch Lite Animal Crossing Bundle is currently back in stock at Argos. This bundle was everywhere last year, which is when I personally picked one up, but has become quite hard to find as of late. It’s not difficult to imagine why, as it gives you a special edition Nintendo Switch Lite console with a super cute Animal Crossing design.
You also net a copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which comes pre-installed. You even get a 12 month Nintendo Switch Online membership, which I haven’t seen included previously and didn’t come with my model back in the day.
I often recommend the Nintendo Switch Lite as the best system for those on a tight budget, as it comes in under £200 and boasts all the same performance as the pricier Nintendo Switch in a much more compact form factor. It’s also a great fit for kids, as it’s quite durable and can withstand drops a bit better than other systems.
Nintendo Switch Lite Animal Crossing Bundle: £199.99 at Argos
If you’re looking for a Nintendo Switch Bundle that can be enjoyed by all members of the family, then this UK offer is for you. Right now you can grab the Nintendo Switch Nintendo Switch Sports Bundle at Argos and it’s an absolutely brilliant deal.
It includes the Nintendo Switch console, a digital copy of Nintendo Switch Sports, and a 12 month Nintendo Switch Online membership at no extra cost. You also get the Nintendo Switch Sports Leg Strap Swing, a little accessory that is needed to access some of the game’s modes.
A successor to the famous Wii Sports, Nintendo Switch Sports is a light-hearted sports game that includes favorites like tennis and bowling in addition to new arrivals such as volleyball and golf. It’s an absolute blast to play together in the living room and could really help liven up the holidays.
Nintendo Switch Lite Animal Crossing Bundle: £199.99 at Argos
If you intend to pick up a few digital Nintendo Switch games over Black Friday, then now is the ideal time to make sure that your console storage is up to the task. This officially licensed Nintendo Switch SD card will boost your capacity by 128GB, more than enough for many top games.
It’s currently on sale for 46% off at Amazon, which is a decent price but not super spectacular. If you don’t need it right away, I would keep an eye out for an even steeper price cut over the coming days as it’s gone down to around the $9 mark on sale in the past.
SanDisk 128GB Micro SD card: was $34.99 now $18.88 at Amazon
I would highly recommend keeping links to a few retailers in your bookmarks bar so that you can quickly check if any good deals are live as we get closer to the big day.
Plenty of popular retailers offer their own Black Friday deals, but here are the best ones to watch depending on your location:
US
Amazon: flash deals on bundles and games
Best Buy: discounts on games and accessories
Walmart: excellent Switch bundles
GameStop: offers on games, accessories and more
UK
Amazon: Switch bundles with many different games
Argos: significantly reduced games
Currys: a wide range of different console bundles
Nintendo Store: regularly includes freebies with bundles
Very: a variety of bundles with top games
Those in the UK also have a fantastic Nintendo Switch OLED bundle at their fingertips. This newly released package offers a Nintendo Switch OLED (in white), a digital copy of the superb Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online. As in the US, the game and membership come at no additional cost.
This is my personal favorite bundle of the year so far, as Super Mario Bros. Wonder is an absolute treat and, in my opinion, a much better showcase of the hardware than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It’s comfortably one of the best Super Mario games that I’ve ever played and a must-have for any potential Nintendo Switch owner.
Nintendo Switch OLED Super Mario Bros. Wonder Bundle: £299 at Currys
Here’s one of those bundles that I just mentioned and it happens to be possibly the best Nintendo Switch OLED deal in the US right now. In the box, you get a Nintendo Switch OLED console in its clean white colorway, a download copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a 12 month Nintendo Switch Online membership.
Best of all, this bundle costs the same as just the Nintendo Switch OLED on its own – effectively giving you the game and membership for free.
Nintendo Switch OLED: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Bundle: $349.99 at Best Buy
Wondering what kind of deals to expect this Black Friday?
Rather than any particularly massive discounts on individual consoles themselves, I would expect the best value Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals to be console bundles. Nintendo often releases a couple at this time of year and we’re already seeing them on sale in both the US and UK.
These bundles allow you to pick up the console and get a top game like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Super Mario Bros. Wonder at no additional cost, plus a few months of Nintendo Switch online membership which is great if you want to play with friends. These are fantastic value and make for excellent gifts, too.
Of course, there will still be a wide range of savings on Nintendo Switch games, accessories, and controllers. I’m already seeing discounts on headphones, cases, SD cards, and more, making this a great time for existing owners to upgrade their setups.
Hello gamers! Welcome to the first day of my Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals coverage extravaganza. I’ve been locked in a dimly-lit room in the TechRadar Gaming HQ, forced to comb through the endless stream of sales to find the very best savings for you. Throughout the sales event, I’m going to be listing some of the top deals as they come in. With everything from unbeatable value console bundles to my own personal picks and must-have accessories, there’s more than likely going to be something worth your time.
I have been a dedicated Nintendo Switch player since day one, owning the console since its launch period back in 2017. I, alongside the wider team at TechRadar, have tested a huge range of Nintendo Switch games, controllers, headsets, storage devices, and more to work out which are the absolute cream of the crop. I’ll be making sure that all of the products recommended here have either scored highly in our reviews or come personally endorsed by me.
Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals are typically some of the best ways to save money on all things Nintendo, so sit back, relax, and get ready to save some cash.
