In addition to these incidents, there were also reports from the Avondale, Chester County station, which involved theft and extortion.
On September 19th, troopers stopped a 1997 Suburban on Interstate 95 north in Ridley Township. The operator, a 35-year-old man from Wilmington, was arrested for driving under the influence, as well as possessing controlled substances and paraphernalia. This incident highlights the ongoing issue of impaired driving and the need for law enforcement to remain vigilant in identifying and apprehending individuals who endanger others on the road.
Another incident involved a retail theft at Kohl’s in Granite Run on September 18th. Troopers responded to a report of $323 worth of stolen clothing. They found the suspect, a 26-year-old male, who also had a glass smoking pipe and multiple arrest warrants. A hit and run incident occurred on September 17th, where a vehicle struck a mailbox on East Old Baltimore Pike. Although the occupants initially escaped, law enforcement apprehended a 21-year-old man from Wilmington, who was found in possession of marijuana. Moving on to reports from the Avondale station, a theft occurred on September 29th. A 63-year-old man reported that two individuals broke into his coop and stole 37 out of his 41 racing pigeons, which were valued at $150,000. Another incident involving extortion occurred on September 25th. An East Nottingham man was contacted by unknown subjects via WhatsApp, pretending to be from the Chicago police. He was threatened with the release of alleged nude photographs unless he wired money. The victim ended up sending approximately $700.
