From the Author
Hello,
I decided to write this book based on two sets of observations I made in my clinical practice as a psychologist specializing in anxiety disorders. First, I began to notice that a byproduct of stress and anxiety reduction is improvement in productivity, which allowed more time and thereby greater balance in the individuals I was seeing in therapy. Second, I noticed that many people are not able to relax effectively with traditional methods of relaxation such as meditation, yoga, and guided imagery and almost ironically can become more relaxed moving. People with or without ADHD who have problems with concentration and highly motivated people afraid to lose their edge, do best with strategies that they can use while they are working, driving, or otherwise going about their day. Therefore, over a decade ago, I began to focus more and more on utilizing existing strategies, as well as developing my own, to help people simultaneously reduce stress while improving productivity and balance without ever having to sit quietly; hence the title of my book “Active Relaxation.” One observation is that once people begin to use active relaxation effectively, they often find themselves able to relax much better sitting still. I hope you decide to purchase my book and add yourself to the 100’s of people who have found the concepts and tools presented in it to be life-changing.
