About the Author Jerry Krause is the director of men s basketball operations at Gonzaga University. Highly regarded as an exceptional teacher of the fundamentals of basketball, Krause has authored 13 instructional coaching books on basketball. For more than two decades, he has been extensively involved professionally in the activities of the coaching/rules organizations of both the NCAA and the NAIA. In his renowned career, he has been honored numerous times for his efforts as a coach, educator, and administrator. Mike Harkins (1928 2010) was the basketball coach at Eastern Montana College (now Montana State University Billings) for 16 seasons. During his tenure, his teams won 290 games, 10 NAIA district titles, and 12 conference championships. He is the winningest men s basketball coach in MSU Billings history. He also coached four teams in international competition. He was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 2007, marking the seventh hall of fame he was named to as either a player or coach. Harkins served as a professor of health, physical education, and recreation at Eastern Montana College, where he received the college s award for outstanding achievement in scholarship and creativity. In addition, he was awarded Akron University s Distinguished Alumni Award.
