Product Description

Dreams, legends, and visions of the Black Madonna invade Barry Short’s consciousness while on the train to an antique monastery in Egypt. Hans Bueller has unearthed a statue of a mysterious lady hidden away for centuries in the monastery’s archives. Barry must help to identify her. The intensity of her eyes; her shimmering crown; her mysterious runes, feathers, and scales; the hieroglyphic poetry that accompany her suggest she is a goddess of the highest order. Free of her mummy wrappings, her mirror captures the light and the imaginations of Barry and his fellow adventurers, as if demanding to be returned to where she ought to be. Who is she? Where did she come from? When was she made? Why was she hidden away? Barry leads his crew across France, Spain, and Italy to answer these questions. In the depths of Paleolithic caves, in the grandeur of European Cathedrals, amidst the layering of Roman mythos and history, a truth emerges that has the power to change everything. Everything? He who controls the narrative about the past has the power to control the future, and that control could be wrested away by the spirit of this nameless lady and her compatriots. Shadowy forces are determined to prevent that, steal her back, and bury her.Warning! If you are not up for a quest, be careful what you pray for. Summer and Rosalind in the company of Roman Goddesses, the Black Madonna, and Mary by the Sea weave a tapestry that summons their understanding of not only who the mysterious statue is but who they are, knowledge that could elevate or prove fatal to themselves and others. Shadow and light have defined our world and given it presence, but when the heavy dark lines become too dominant, change looms dangerously near.
