A Maui local of 27-years and popular Maui blogger, Liza Pierce, has released a new Maui guide book on Amazon. Maui 2021 and Beyond is “your simple guide to enjoying your Maui vacation during and after COVID-19.” It is a perfect guide book for a visitor who is seeking a local’s perspective. No frills, just an honest and personal perspective on where to stay, what to do, and where to eat in a present and post COVID Maui.

Chapter 6 alone is worth its weight in gold (or poi if that is your means of currency) as she shares her favorite local grindz in each town. Erica and I are always looking for new places to eat on the island. When we can’t find a food truck, her list will be a lifesaver for a hungry Henry.

Chapter 8 on Hawaiian culture and respecting the land is a way to build a greater appreciation for the island. Many guide books are missing this piece. Like one that shan’t be named. When we moved to Maui we learned that the island is united in taking down one infamous guide book. The story is the author moved to Maui for 6-months. They used their time to befriend locals to learn hidden, dangerous, private-property, and other spots that were kapu. They then fled the island, revealed the spots, and don’t dare return. Perhaps Liza’s guide book will unseat this book from the top Maui guide book spot.
