Product Description

Life in the fae realm is no fairytale…

Wild and stubborn, Ora Widogast is determined to join her brother for the annual Tabas hunt. After a terrible mistake, her brother is turned into a pig, and Ora is taken captive in the fae realm.

Alone in a strange world, she is faced with the overwhelming task of finding a way home, but no one wants to help a human. Especially one who has been placed under the watchful eye of a cruel and powerful war mage, Tyg Marigen.

Of course, Tyg has more important matters to see to. As her political ambitions and twisted past lead her down a darker and darker path, her human charge becomes nothing more than a nuisance.

But events take a turn for both women when a magical ritual goes horribly wrong…

Ora and the Old God is the first book in a spellbinding fae fantasy series that weaves together powerful women and complex magic.

Review

“Day managed to paint a complex fae world and introduce an amazing cast of characters you simply love regardless of whether they are good or bad.” – NetGalley Review

“…the perfect book for a reader who is willing to escape into a mystical world where two women will stop at nothing to achieve their goals.” – BookSprout Review

“…a wonderful cast of characters and a fantastical creation of a fae realm that I think anyone would want to get lost in.” – NetGalley Review

“I usually give a book a few pages to a couple chapters to hook me, but Ora and the Old God drew me in from page one.” – BookSprout Review

“If you like fantasy, Fae, magic and royalty and political machinations, you will probably like this book.” NetGalley Review

“Day plays her cards close and doesn’t seem to reveal anything before she wants the reader to put the final pieces together – which is usually at the same time or just before the characters themselves realize something.” – Book Sirens Review

“The story was interesting and kept me thinking: ‘what will happen next?’. Besides that, the characters are very human-like. They have a real personality, show a certain character in the storyline.” – NetGalley Review

“…intricate magic systems, adventures in other worlds, and political shenanigans with deadly stakes.” – NetGalley Review

From the Author

Why did you write Ora and the Old God?
This really gets into my greater vision for the series. I wanted to write a young, temerarious female protagonist who isn’t driven by romance but by her want for knowledge and power. In book one, Ora only gets her first taste of magic. What happens from there … well, she has a lot of growing to do.What’s your favorite part of Ora and the Old God?I think this question is more about a specific scene, but my favorite part is Tyg. I love to hate my antagonist, and I am so excited about her character arc throughout the series. I would argue that Of Ether and Silver is as much about Tyg as it is about Ora.What was the most challenging part of writing this book?Developing a character who is captive in a strange land presented unusual challenges. Ora isn’t meant to be caged, and finding ways to let her personality shine through a traumatizing situation was hard to do.How many books will be in the Of Ether and Silver series?I have three more books planned. Each will push the characters further as they learn more about magic, the gods, and themselves. Let me just say: it’s so hard not to give you all the spoilers! Why did you choose the title Ora and the Old God?Ora meets an old god in this book, though she technically doesn’t know it yet. What other books have inspired you?My reading tastes are all over the place, and I don’t think there’s any one book that inspired Ora and the Old God. So, just for fun, here are some of my favorite authors: Louise Erdrich, Lian Hearn, Taylor Brown, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, B. Catling, Donald Justice, Jorge Luis Borges, and Martin Amis.
