Others – Fear the Dead “Live”

Binghamton NY’s gothic horror metal band “Others” perfoms Live January 3rd 2009. On a cold blustery January morning we decided to throw the gear in the van and head up to Binghamton’s “Castle” on the hill to record a “live” album. We had been talking about doing a live album to showcase J.R. Rotting (our new bass player) and joked about instead of playing in front of a “Live” audience, why not play in front of the “Spirits” of the of the deceased. Now what better place to record something like that than an old abandoned castle. The long vacant “Inebriate Asylum” built in 1858 to fight alcoholism, would be the perfect place. The castle went through a couple of transformations. In 1879 it was the Binghamton Asylum for the Chronic Insane and in 1890 it became the “State” Hospital (Home for the Mentally Insane). It was closed down in the 1990’s and has been empty ever since. Now there are no actual reports of it actually being haunted (no one has actually spent the night there since it was closed) but there are reports of a restless spirit known to haunt the cemetery in the back of the castle (The Lady in White as she is called). So we figured what the hell. It’s worth the creep factor alone and the acoustics are amazing. So with that being said, you will hear no one screaming, shouting, singing along to your favorite song or yelling “Free bird”. Just the sound of silence between songs and if you listen hard enough, you may just here a voice or two from the beyond the grave… The band plays new material as well as some of their hits such as “I, Vampire”, “Salem”, “Unkind Farmer”. 21 songs in all. This features the new lineup of Marquis – Guitar & Vocals, J.R. Rotting – Basal, Mr. Webb – Percussion.
