The following is a series of events and perspectives from the eyes of a kid raised on the South Side of Chicago. All of the chapters are unique and cover a wide variety of topics. You can compare personal experiences, if you lived through these times, or get a glimpse of life ” back in the day.” Each chapter attempts to have a point and hopefully will be helpful on some level in your life. You may find yourself laughing, crying or simply scratching your head, but you will not be bored. Each chapter stands on its own and may be read in any sequence. I was asked once, “why are you writing this book?” I didn’t have an immediate answer, but days later saw a quote by J.D. Salinger: “What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn’t happen much, though.” I will be happy if only one reader of this book gets that feeling.
