Turmeric extract is a concentrate of turmeric containing curcumin compounds and derivatives. Turmeric extract is obtained by extracting active compounds from turmeric using appropriate solvents such as ethanol or alcohol. The extraction method used is maceration (soaking sample). This compound is the main component in turmeric other than demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin. Curcumin gives a distinctive yellow color to turmeric. This compound is a class of polyphenol compounds. Curcumin and his derivative compounds are known as curcuminoids. Curcumin is not water-soluble but ethanol soluble. On pH exceeding high, curcumins can experience hydrolysis quickly and brownly.
