The Ebb and Flow of Life on Sandy Neck

Sandy Neck is located on the Sandwich/Barnstable town line on the north side of Cape Cod. It is a barrier beach that juts out into Cape Cod Bay. It is surrounded by ocean on 3 sides and can only be accessed by 4-wheel drive or by boat. It is remote and unique in many ways. The landscape is beautiful with rolling sand dunes, sea breezes, and often stunning sunsets. There is an abundance of wildlife and plant life. There are no town utilities so gas lanterns and hand pumps are common. It is a small community. Most families have owned their cottages for years. The pace is slow. It is a place to ponder and ideas are shared. Tasks are deliberate, often including group participation. Friendships are lasting and time is told in tides. Welcome to our world, Sandy Neck.
