Review
Honesty, empathy, respect and humility are the cornerstones of INTEGRITY. Julia’s ability to convey these essential character-building skills through a child’s world view, is pure genius.
The “I” in Integrity is a must-have book for parents, guardians and educators to teach this much-needed lifelong lesson to their children! –Gloria Pereyra-Robertson, 2017 Oregon State Teacher of the Year, 2018 NEA Teaching Excellence recipient, and 2019 Life Changer of the Year recipient
The author has done a stellar job of giving scenarios that kids will understand that demonstrate the lack of integrity. She then moves forward explaining the meaning of the word and how it is important to have integrity in your life. It is a story of personal growth and taking responsibility for your actions thus making you a much better person. The illustrations are very well done. They are colourful, detailed and full of expression. I love them! If you are an educator this will be a perfect book to offer your students the first week of school. A copy should be in classrooms as well as elementary school libraries. You will find Tips for parents and educators at the back of the which are most helpful. I’m being honest about the book… it’s wonderful! I highly recommend this book. –Marilyn Panton, NetGalley
This book does a great job at explaining a broad character trait. Many of our schools are trained in PBIS and use some type of core value system and integrity is a common trait that is used. This book works well for the explicit teaching of the skill and helps to generate more conversation with the group. For our lessons, the guiding questions help the students understand integrity- those really brought it to life and allowed for teachers to use this for discussions later. I loved the illustrations and the color scheme for the book. The pictures were vivid and full of detail. I would recommend, adding Black and Brown students in the future and even making them and their families the center of the book’s focus. –Shannon Dobson, Integrated Behavior and Education Support Team
