I wrote The Smart Mom’s Guide to Healthy Snacking to help parents navigate one of the most challenging aspects of feeding and raising kids: Snacking.
There’s no denying snacks are a central part of every child’s diet. Parse out the daily routine of feeding kids, and you’ll find parents are making about 28,000 meals and snacks over the course of their child’s childhood (18 years). That’s a lot of food!
In fact, snacks make up about 28% of a 2-to-5-year-old child’s energy intake and 27% for older kids. That’s more than a quarter of what they eat in a day. It’s critical to get this part of nutrition and feeding right.
I also know that snacks and the habits around eating them are a pain point for parents. Parents love snacks… and they hate them. I know if I can help parents see snacks in a new light and give them some strategies and new ideas, they’ll feel better about their child’s eating.
