Visit London on a budget! In this thrifty London travel guide, I will show you what to see, where to go, where to stay, what to eat, and what to do while in London. I’ll show you what’s good for families as well as couples and singles. I give you prices and addresses as current as I know that exist so you can get an idea of what you might spend while on holiday. I will also show you valuable cost-saving tips.
In my book, Thrifty Traveler’s Guide to London, you will learn the ins and outs of being in London from a local’s perspective. I have spent pretty much my entire life among the streets of London. So, let’s get this clear right from the start, I am a dedicated Londoner, born and partly bred under its towering shadows. I arrived in a hospital bed in a suburb 10 miles west of the city itself, in the town of Harrow, to be exact, the County of Middlesex, which has a famous public school amongst who’s greatest alumni was that wartime leader, Winston Churchill.
From the age of 12, I was given free rein by my parents to take the train the 16 miles from where I lived into its very centre, which I sank in up to my neck. I was not a child of sports, neither was I a great mixer with my peers; I was a loner still am, and Saturdays were for exploration. I used them wisely and often.
I have walked the streets from the East to the West, the North to the South, and found a million things to see that no one else perhaps did or just overlooked in the attempt. I thank the stars for an enquiring nature, the rough pencil sketches I made, and the thousands of photos I took, all sadly lost in the mists of time.
This book will give you what you need to know to make the most your stay in London. This book is broken into three parts based on what to see and what to do. All along, I will give you practical advice on how to save money while on your trip. The book gives you interesting historical facts and figures about London interspersed with hardcore advice and information to plan your visit.
I the first part, we’ll discuss traveler’s insurance, airplane flights, visas, and local transportation. In the second part, I will teach you about how the city of London is structured, what to see, where to go, and what to visit including museums and amusements. We will also talk about where to stay and what to eat while you’re here – all of course with a budget mindset. In part three, I will talk about etiquette, what to see on a tight schedule, weird or off-the-wall things to do, and how to contact emergency services should you need assistance.
Please take a look at the table of contents before you decide if this book is what you need to play your stay in London. It is, of course, written from the point of view of a long-time local. You will want to add this title to your shopping cart. This book also makes a great gift!
