About the Author

Dr. Widad Akreyi is a chronicler, researcher and an award-winning pioneer in the fields of social justice and peace. The 
lifelong champion of gender equality became a global voice for the women and girls enslaved in the Middle East in 2014. Born in Kurdistan, Widad now lives in the West and holds a Master’s degree in genetics and a PhD in international health and epidemiology.
