About the Author

As a pretty avid reader I’ve come to respect the person that is able to encapsulate a relationship into one paragraph. Now that I have been requested to write about the author, all I have is this. I opened the door and fell into her arms, I knew she would catch me. At a point in my life, a few years ago, I had reached the end of my rope spiritually mentally and physically. I was bone tired from the work of mothering a family of 4 children, one of whom had previously undergone a bone marrow transplant and recovered only to relapse a year later. I was also working two jobs that were both physically demanding. Something had to give and after years of pressure, it was me. Llyana had been a friend, sister and mentor to me for over 20 years at that point and was raising 11 children of her own. Her practical wisdom washed over me as she instructed me to go take a nap while she handled things. I don’t remember going to lay down or what I dreamed. I do remember the palpable ache of worry leaving my body though. The relief was unexplainable. She stayed during the week and returned at the beginning of every week to care for myself and my family when all that I had to do was to much for me to do alone. I remember my back going out on the way to my first summer vacation in over 15 years with my closest friends, the timing and the pain was awful, I could barely stand up straight much less enjoy my vacation. When I finally arrived at our meeting place, I asked llyana who practiced Reiki, to help me out with a little adjustment (a form of healing) on my back. Llyana made me promise not to tell anyone she had “healing hands”. I looked my sister in the eye and proceeded to lie about how I would tell no one of her gifts. Once again, I fell into her arms, I knew she would catch me. Through trails, tribulations, divorce, children and relocation we have been together through thick and thin for over 25 years. Llyana’s intellect is impressive (she has a lawyers talent for questioning), her heart is made of fine gold and she has a temper!
