Worlds Within the World: The Story of the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels 1971-2021

Fifty years ago Walt Disney World opened in Florida, changing the theme park experience fundamentally. Now, for the first time ever, is a comprehensive historical account of the WDW resorts over the last half century, resorts which were intended by Disney to give guests unique environments while they visited the parks. The WDW resorts ranged from futuristic high rises, to tropical South Seas islands, to national park lodges, to Victorian opulence, and many other areas and themes.
The specially themed on-site resorts gave guests opportunities to escape to different worlds, all done with the Disney eye for detail. This volume will explore each of the WDW resorts and their histories, including ones that never opened or were greatly altered.
