The Single Thing ‘Diablo 4’ Season 2 Changed To Get Me Hooked Again

by Macky Briones

Diablo 4’s second season has been in full swing for a while now, and players are finding themselves hooked on the game once again. With numerous improvements and changes, this season has managed to reignite the passion of many players, including myself. One particular change stands out among the rest, and it has significantly improved the gameplay experience: the XP grind.

In previous seasons, hitting the level 70 mark was a point where players would hit a wall. The XP required to progress further felt like an insurmountable task, especially when coupled with the lack of significant improvements in loot quality. It felt like there was little point to continue playing beyond that point. However, this season, the XP grind has been decimated in a positive way.

Blizzard made a crucial adjustment to the XP system, reducing the time it takes to reach level 100 by about 40%. This change has had a tremendous impact on the gameplay, making the progression feel much smoother and more rewarding. Skill points and paragon points are now obtained at a significantly faster rate, allowing players to make substantial progress in building their characters, even if they don’t get the perfect loot drops.

This improvement in XP gain is felt throughout the game. The new seasonal zone, Blood Harvest, provides a rich source of XP, while the XP buffs in Nightmare dungeons make leveling up even more satisfying. The Tree of Whispers, an endgame feature, now feels like a worthwhile endeavor, thanks to the substantial XP boosts it offers. Additionally, the season itself provides free Smoldering Ashes, which can grant players a bonus 20% XP boost.

As a result of these changes, I am on the way to reaching level 100 with my Druid, a achievement I had never managed before. And I am progressing quickly enough that I even have the option to start another class from scratch if I so choose.

While there have been other positive changes in Diablo 4’s Season of Blood, the improvement in the XP grind is by far the most significant. It has transformed the gameplay experience and made it much more enjoyable and rewarding. The developers at Blizzard should be commended for quickly and effectively addressing this issue. It’s a testament to their commitment to delivering a satisfying and immersive gaming experience.

Overall, Diablo 4’s Season of Blood has reinvigorated the game and kept players engaged. With the XP grind significantly reduced, players can now experience a smoother and more rewarding progression. Whether you’re a fan of looting or shooting, this season has something for everyone. It’s an exciting time to be playing Diablo 4, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this beloved franchise.
